Browen

Browen

Browen is a territory made up primarily of farm land and sweeping plains. As an agricultural center, Browen controls most of the native food source and maintains itself through food trade with other regions. West Browen is mostly wooded and difficult or nearly impossible to pass by caravan. Trade routes often run North toward Byspell in Grelach and South toward Aquara in Ochrad.

Browen celebrates the land and all that it gives, often in abundance, so it is no surprise that Browen follows a polytheistic religious doctrine which values nature and balance, over newer deities. For those in Browen, religion is a deep and personal commitment. Religion is taught within the family and passed on through stories, primarily shared verbally. Homes are often simple, one story or lofted structures made of timber and stone, with thatched roofing. Homes often have their own personal gardens.

Despite its comfortable economic food trade, Browen is easily overlooked by other regions. Browen’s army does not exist because of a draft system, but stands more as a personal militia. Defense of the land and the culture stand in the hands of those who were born and raised in Browen, often farmers and their sons. The political system of Browen is primarily a monarchy, with the throne inherited and passed on throughout the ages.

Ostburn:

Ostburn is the capital city of Browen. The ruler of Browen resides in Ostburn with their family at the center of the city. The layout of the city is simple, with several historical buildings and newer, stone structures. Those who live in Ostburn often participate in cultural and religious festivals in correlation with the harvest. Ostburn also has a thriving market, which fills the streets every other Sunday during the warm months in celebration of abundance. Those in Ostburn dress well and brightly. Those who live in OStburn, rather than villages outside the city, are often wealthy and do not scrimp when it comes to color and comfort. They are practical, but value beauty and brightness. They cherish soft, organic fabrics which exhibit their love of nature.
