Esteos

Motto: Honor and Homeland
The flag is a rectangle with a solid olive background. The emblem is arrows and a chalice.

Esteos

Esteos is the wealthiest of all the regions, though it still has a large population living in poverty beyond its major cities. Esteos also has the largest army in the world, which was created via a draft system. All young people between the ages of fifteen and twenty-one must enlist in the service of the king to be called upon at any time. Those who end up going into battle are drawn via lottery and their families are taken care of financially in their absence. Warriors who stay and service the kingdom year-round are given decent quarters and respectable pay.

Esteos throws yearly games at the Festival of Kings, a celebration honoring a long and noble lineage. They are often battles to the death and the winner takes home a rather large sum, sometimes enough to be considered a fortune. Winners are also heralded as celebrities throughout the region. The games are brutal, but historically accepted and eagerly anticipated by those of Esteos, despite their bloody outcomes.

Esteos follows the new religion, worshiping only one supreme God. They have given up the old gods entirely and, within the last century, most of the temples for the old gods were burned down and destroyed. Instead, the people of Esteos pray weekly in churches, participate in new faith, community rituals such as baptisms and marriage ceremonies and worship privately within their homes.

Freyhill:

Freyhill is the largest city in Esteos and home to the ruler of Esteos and family. Esteos’ political system most resembles a monarchy and the royal family of Esteos was not elected, but inherited the throne. Succession rule dictates that the last living heir, male or female, rules the throne. The city is in current upheaval after the sudden death of its King. The King’s heir, a son, has just taken the throne and very recently married.

Orness:

The second largest city in Esteos, Orness is known for its elaborate galas and festivals --complete with live music, dancing and art displays. Art is so widely admired in Orness that performers, artists and musicians are paid extraordinarily well and treated as celebrities. Due to its proximity on the sea, Orness is often bustling with new cultures and is a forward-thinking city.

Redwick:

Redwick is home to The Sacred Crown, a religious institution which promotes the values of the new God. Families in the country spend their life savings sending their children to The Sacred Crown, in hopes of furthering their religious education and keeping them out of the Esteos army. The Sacred Crown is a sprawling campus with towering pines, bright gardens and on-site lodging for students. The buildings are new structure, with delicate architecture and smooth stone. Esteos also has the largest library in the region, though it is only available to students.
